My name is Mary Baker and I have been teaching 6th Grade math for 14 years at KMS. I started teaching 36 years ago in Great Britain, where I had an elementary class of 43 1st and 2nd graders!! The Good Old Days!!!
Since then, I have taught every age from kindergarten to adult basic education, but middle school is my love, so I'm finally where I need to be! I also love math, and how numbers and number concepts work and interact with each other. I feel it's my job to convey that passion to my students. I want them to leave my class excited and motivated to discover more! I live in East/North Knoxville in a 120 year old house with my dog, Lizzie. I have two children. My daughter, Caroline is a professor in the School Counseling Program at the University of Wisconsin, and my son, James, having served six years in the military with two deployments oversees, one in Iraq, is now at Middle Tennessee State University studying computer programming. I have been a sixth grade and sixth grade honors math teacher at Karns for sixteen years. | |
